I watch a ton of garment sewing on YouTube and they are all these delightful ladies from Australia and New Zealand and all over Great Britain who talk about their fantastic Indie fabric stores. I was in despair of finding anything in the United States until I found you! Thank you for being here for us!

Hello! I am just starting to learn to sew (using classes from Sew Liberated) and just wanted to let you know how helpful these emails are. I am saving your newsletters because they are really helping me understand different fabrics and what patterns they would work well with. I live in a rural area and do not have access to a bricks and mortar fabric store, so understanding fabric choices is a challenge, to say the least! Quilters! This is the store for you. Friendly Helpful staff (with mad math skills). Great selection of quilting cotton and batiks - sorted by color. AND every notion imaginable. Button selection is great. I know any type of sewist or crafter will find what they are looking for at Stone Mountain.

I love love love this store!! Went to get some buttons today and realized I have never reviewed this amazing place. Bad on me. If you are a fabric-head, this is the place. It's like Berkeley Bowl is for foodies. Patterns you can't get just anywhere, as well as a nice selection of quality fabrics and notions packed into a small store. You want oilcloth, wool suiting, linen, muslin, cotton? Yup.

This is THE ONLY FABRIC STORE worth going to!! I've been shopping here for over 40 years... service, selection, and gorgeous fabrics — definitely replaces Joann's!

You don’t just sell fabric and notions. I have shopped with you for years and also recommended your shop more times than I can count. Your materials always seem to be what I am looking for and always of great quality. It is comforting to have a go-to place where I know I can be creative and get what I need at a reasonable price So, thanks back at you.

As I read your email this morning, I realized I was holding my breath, afraid you were saying ’thanks for being our customer and now we’re closing!’ I don’t know what I would do without Stonemountain and Daughter. I make a special trip twice a year from Oregon to stock up on wonderful fabric. Like my yarn stash, my fabric inventory is approaching ‘fabric beyond life expectancy’, but that’s not your fault!

Many many years ago, when I lived in the Bay Area, I decided I could make a quilt. And you had everything I needed and did not judge my fabric choices, but were instead super supportive of my naive enthusiasm. I still have and use that quilt (even if I now know the colors together are awful!), and now I'm a garment sewer, making all my own clothing and much for my family (including my daughter's wedding outfit for this spring). I am so grateful to you for all the expertise you've provided to me over the years, as well as the amazing and creativity-inducing fabrics and notions. I live in Atlanta now, but come to the Bay Area regularly to see family, work, and quite honestly to visit my favorite fabric store.
