Thank you for your support, kind words, and purchases—it all keeps us going and doing what we love! It’s hard to believe it’s been a little over a year since we re-opened our Berkeley store to in-person shopping while continuing to serve our broader community of makers online.
Since the founding of Stonemountain & Daughter in 1981, we have focused on providing our local and global community of sewists with exceptional customer care and a wide array of quality fabrics, notions, and patterns.
What a wild year it has been on the fabric frontier! We are deeply grateful for all that has made 2022 a monumental year for us. This year’s achievements were a mix of large and small—we are so proud that all of our efforts have combined to make your Stonemountain & Daughter experience better than ever!
In 2022, Stonemountain & Daughter …
- Celebrated 41 years in Berkeley
- Hired nine wonderful new sales associates, bringing our full team to 22 sales associates and six managers
- Updated our “old-world fabric store” by installing state-of-the-art technology in-store and on our website, including a barcode system that has made our stock of thousands of products scannable—streamlining the checkout experience
- Added over 5,000 new fabrics to our website, so customers near and far can enjoy new arrivals in real time
- Provided in-store service six days a week
- Extended hours to 10:30–6pm, Tuesday through Sunday
- Filled our shelves with quality fabric from around the world, including designer deadstock treasures and even more fabrics from top European designers
- Re-opened “Upstairs” to provide a wide range of quality half-price fabrics
- Sold over 1,000 lbs of remnants by the pound!
- Rolled and sold over 2,000 remnants!
- Engaged with our community of sewists through Instagram, emails, and Facebook, and over 100 newsletters to inspire new sewing projects
It was so very special for Stonemountain & Daughter to be recognized as an anchor store in downtown Berkeley, and to have our beloved community vote us Best Fabric Store of the East Bay in not one but two magazines.
Since the opening of Stonemountain & Daughter, we’ve had the honor of serving tens of thousands of satisfied customers, spanning multiple generations.
On behalf of our entire team at Stonemountain, we hope that this coming year brings good health, prosperity, and happiness. It is with enthusiastic anticipation that we continue to dream and plan for all we can create together in the seasons ahead.
