Denim & Twill You Can Trust
Today we return to our denim collection in search of something that’s just a little bit different from a classic midweight indigo blue fabric. Join us to explore the variety of colors, weights, and textures that exist in our collection of denims and cotton twills!
denim vs. twill
You may see denim and twill recommended for the same patterns and wonder, well, what’s the difference? Both are tightly woven in a twill weave, producing a sturdy cloth with a diagonal ridge pattern. Classic denim is woven with a combination of two different yarns: one dyed blue with indigo, the other bleached white to create denim’s signature look. Twill, on the other hand, is woven from white or natural yarns and then dyed a single color. Denim is usually a midweight or heavyweight fabric, while twill can be a variety of weights. If denim isn’t right for your project, you can absolutely explore cotton twills of a similar weight to substitute. Choosing denim or twill will give patterns like the Mule Tote, Riley Overalls, and the Den Jacket very different looks!
