Designer Deadstock – Yarn Dyed Linen – Shadow Plaid

This light- to medium-weight yarn-dyed linen almost looks like a solid, but there is a subtle plaid woven into the dark fabric. This linen is slightly sheer, so you might prefer to use a lining depending on the garment. This fabric has a soft, relaxed hand and a gentle drape. It would be perfect for tops, lined dresses and skirts, and more.

Wondering what “deadstock” means? Deadstock fabrics are left over from garment factories and textile mills. Instead of ending up in a landfill, this fabric comes to us! It can be a more sustainable option than newly manufactured fabrics and it’s a great way to get interesting garment fabrics (sometimes even designer pieces!).

Care Instructions: Machine wash cold, tumble dry low. To make linen wrinkle less, follow these instructions from Sandra Betzina: Before washing, iron the fabric with the hottest, driest iron possible. Machine wash in hot water and tumble dry on high heat. Remove only when completely dry. This method will result in shrinkage, but small, soft folds will replace the hard creases usually associated with linen.
