The Swatch Cap – PDF Pattern

This 6-panel brimless cap is inspired by Jacques Cousteau’s red watch cap. It has been reinterpreted into a woven cap that can be made out of many different types of fabrics. It is fully lined and has a cuff detail. This hat is designed with an adjustable back strap that can be made out of twill tape, leather straps or any material of your choice. The cap is finished with traditional topstitching and a button on the top. This is a PDF Pattern, you will receive a confirmation email with a downloadable link. Size A: 21”–23” Head Circumference
Size B: 22”–24” Head Circumference

Fabric Requirements:
Recommended Shell fabrics: medium weight wovens (quilting cotton, linen) or medium-heavy
weight wovens (twill, canvas, flannel, corduroy, wool)
Recommended Lining fabrics: quilting cotton, lawn, voile, bemberg rayon

Size A:
Shell Fabric: 1/4 yd of fabric at least 45” wide
Lining Fabric: 1/4 yd of 45” wide fabric

Size B:
Shell Fabric: 1/2 yd of 45” wide fabric OR 1/4 yd of fabric 52” or wider
Lining Fabric: 1/4 yd of 45” wide fabric

Supplies:
Fusible Interfacing: 1/2 yd
Back Strap Material: 1/2 yd of 5/8”–3/4” twill tape
Back Strap Closure: 4” of Velcro in the same width as your back strap material
1 5/8”–3/4” button or 3/4” covered button kit
Bias Tape: 1/4 yd of 1/4” double fold bias tape or a 1 1/4” bias strip 1/4 yd long
Batting (optional): 1/8 yd
