Our collection of cotton wovens is huge—we have an entire room in the shop devoted to these wonderful fabrics! We’re always on the lookout for ways to bring different fabrics into our wardrobes; here are a few cotton wovens with unique textures that you’ll love sewing and wearing.

Indian Block Print Cotton is a wonderful way to add texture and pattern into your look! These cotton fabrics are lightweight and tightly-woven, with a soft, crinkly texture. These fabrics are all hand-printed by artisans in India, which makes them even more special—they’re truly works of art! We love block print cotton for loose, airy garments like the Kaftan Dress and the Indigo Dress, but it’s also a perfect fit for a classic, fitted Vernon Shirt.

These waffle weave cottons are a delight to wear! Woven with organic thread in two colors, these fabrics have a plush, textured hand and a nice drape. We recommend waffle weave cottons for comfy, cozy garments like The Sidney, the Hovea Jacket, and the Pogonip Pullover, for a comfy bathrobe, and even for a beautiful set of kitchen towels.

We can’t talk about texture without mentioning the dreamiest cotton woven of all: cotton double gauze. Made of two lightweight layers of cotton fabric that are tacked together, this cotton double gauze has a crinkly texture and a yarn-dyed check pattern that’s visible on both sides. Cotton double gauze is perfect for warm-weather garments, and we think it’s a dream for layering in wintertime, too. We’ll happily stitch up garments like the Matcha Top, the Dukke Blouse, and the Luna Pants in gorgeous double-gauze.
