Where Bold Florals Come to Life 

You’ve browsed our fabrics and have fallen head over heels for our bold botanical prints, but you aren’t sure how to make these oversized leaves and blooms a part of your look—we’re here to help! Today we’ve picked a few of our favorite large-scale floral prints, and we’re sharing a few ideas for garments you’ll love making a part of your wardrobe. If head-to-toe florals aren’t your thing, we’ve got you covered with ideas for separates and layering pieces to bring just enough of the garden into your spring look.

Our collection of rayon wovens is filled with gorgeous florals, perfect for sewing a beautiful top. We love the Dove Blouse and its dramatic bell sleeves that are ideal for showing off just enough of a big floral print. For a complete look, sew up a Parker Ponte Pant or a Grafton Skirt in a coordinating solid-colored ponte knit!

Linen is one of our favorite fabrics for spring and summer—it’s breathable and has a lovely texture and drape. Tropical print linen is a great choice for a Jenna Shirt—we love the proportions of the cropped version, it’s crisp, cool, and perfect for wearing in warmer weather. A bold button-up is even better paired with solid-colored separates like The Nevis and the Flaneur Pants in coordinating linen and linen blends.

Our collection of silks includes some amazing floral prints like this midcentury-inspired silk habotai! When selecting a pattern to pair with silk fabric, consider the fabric’s hand and drape, as well as how sheer or opaque it is. Silk habotai is lovely and light, so it will work really well with patterns like the Tie Bow Blouse and the Saltwater Slip (great as a dress or a camisole) that highlight its pretty drape—perfect for wearing with your favorite pants or skirt. With a pattern like the Front Pleat Shirt, you’ll get a different effect from silk habotai than you will from crisp silk organza (see a few shirts our team made with silk organza in last year’s Spotlight on Button-Up Shirts!).
