These fabrics are one of a kind deadstock made for local designer Minako, acquired after she closed her studio of 30 years. Shibori is a traditional Japanese technique where where the fabric is hand bound to resist the dye. This silk jacquard fabric is over-dyed with the shibori technique and is 14 inches wide. It is opaque and would make a wonderful zero-waste garment or a variety of accessories.
Wondering what “deadstock” means? Deadstock fabrics are left over from garment factories and textile mills. Instead of ending up in a landfill, this fabric comes to us! It can be a more sustainable option than newly manufactured fabrics and it’s a great way to get interesting garment fabrics (sometimes even designer pieces!).
