SALES ASSOCIATE

Our Sales Associates are the heart of the store—bringing together deep sewing knowledge, a love of fabric, and a passion for helping others. We’re looking for experienced sewists who feel at home among bolts of fabric and thrive in a customer-focused, fast-paced setting.

As an SA, you’ll be part of a close-knit team that supports both our local and online communities. You’ll help customers choose fabrics, answer questions, cut and prepare fabric, ring up sales, and fulfill online orders with care and accuracy.

We’re looking for people who love fabric, know their way around a sewing machine and an indie pattern, and are excited to share their knowledge with others.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide warm, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic customer service
  • Cut fabric and notions accurately and efficiently
  • Process sales and returns using our POS system
  • Assist customers with fabric selection, project planning, and product questions
  • Keep the store clean, organized, and visually appealing
  • Fulfill and pack online orders with accuracy and care
  • Stay current on new arrivals, sales, and promotions
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and respectful work environment

Who We’re Looking For:

  • You’re an experienced sewist who loves fabric and has worked with a variety of materials and patterns
  • You’re passionate about helping people and creating a welcoming customer experience
  • You’re dependable, detail-oriented, and take pride in your work
  • You enjoy learning new skills and staying engaged in a fast-paced environment
  • You’re comfortable using computers, email, and basic POS systems
  • You’re physically able to lift heavy fabric bolts and be on your feet for extended periods

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiarity with a wide range of fabric types and their uses
  • Strong customer service background, ideally in a retail setting
  • Confidence using sewing terminology and helping others troubleshoot
  • Experience handling cash and operating a register
  • Knowledge of independent sewing patterns and current sewing trends

Schedule & Availability:

  • Minimum availability: 24 hours/week (shifts are typically 8 hours)
  • Weekend availability is strongly preferred Flexible, reliable schedule and ability to respond to changing needs
