We have a LOT of great fabrics in stock, so it’s easy to miss a few special ones along the way! This week we’re highlighting and scanning every shelf in the shop and searching for as-yet-undiscovered fabrics we know you’ll enjoy. There are some real gems to be found, like the Lady McElroy lawns above, and plenty of yardage to make your dream project happen! We have the fabric, the patterns, and all the notions you’ll need to make your project happen!
Cotton lawn is smooth and light with a bit of shine, so it’s a lovely choice for patterns like the Regalia Blouse or the Beatrix Top. Our yarn-dyed cottons have a bit more weight and a lot of great texture, so they’re wonderful for pieces like the Metamorphic Dress. Twill is a perfect fit for a pair of Magic Pants—choose a bold stripe like you see below, or a classic solid like our Ventana or Kobe twills.

There are so many great cottons to discover in our collection, here are a few more we think you’ll enjoy: Cotton/linen canvas with gold metallic ink detail lends a bit of sparkle to your Bernadette Skirt or Emery Dress. Favorite cotton is a staple fabric that’s perfect for so many patterns, from Pants No. 1 to a smock like The Cawley. And finally, our textured yarn-dyed cotton will be a dream for a dress like Ashling, a button-up shirt, or dozens of other looks!
We have so many wonderful fabrics in stock that it’s extremely likely that you may have missed a few treasures! Here are a few great knits that are a perfect fit for your winter sewing list. We love this sweet floral jersey for a cozy Rise & Fall Turtleneck, which will be even cozier paired with a pair of Erin Dungarees in a modal textured knit. Winter is all about lightweight layers to lock in warmth, so we’re all about a cotton-blend jersey knit for cozy base layer basics like the Dune Tank & Briefs and the Elysian Bodysuit.
We stock hundreds of lovely rayons and silks, each more beautiful than the last, so the obvious problem is which one to choose? Maybe you’ll discover that you need two; a sale is a great time for that! Here are a few favorites from our collection, from whimsical to romantic to graphic and abstract. Each of these fabrics would be perfect for flowy patterns like the Romey Gathered Dress & Top, the Pussy Bow Blouse, or the Genevieve Skirt.
Have you sewn your own jeans? If you’re tempted to venture into the world of custom jeans, using stretch denim is a wonderful way to perfect your fit from the very beginning. We have a variety of colors and textures of stretch denim in stock now! Patterns like the Ames Jeans and Ginger Jeans will help you craft custom jeans with success, and we think the Twist Pants and the Blanca Flight Suit would be equally fabulous in stretch denim.
Orange you glad we’ve always got an eye out for fun fabrics? Citrus is in season, and its inspiring many shades of orange in our fabric world. This plaid flannel is a lovely choice for a cozy Hovea Jacket, and is just the thing to wear over a soft, stretchy cotton/spandex tee (love this print for the new Grafton Mix & Match pattern). To complete our orange ensemble, we’ll pair a velvety-soft wide wale cotton corduroy with the Jenny Trousers pattern.
What fabrics are we excited about? So glad you asked! We can never get enough of our linens and blends—as you can see in the photo above, these fabrics have amazing texture and they are available in so many colors! Linen/viscose has a bit of drape and is a lovely choice for garments like the Avenir Jumpsuit. Linen/cotton is a dream for wardrobe staples like the Studio Tunic, and it is perfect for home dec projects as well. 100% linen has gorgeous drape and strength, so it will make a beautiful version of The Ella dress for all seasons.
Congratulations to Kathryn F., Pam T., and Barbara L., who each won a copy of Sewing the Curveby Jenny Rushmore of Cashmerette Patterns!
