We’ve been watching our collection of deadstock fabrics grow over the winter, and we can’t wait to share some of our favorites for spring. From cotton to rayon to silk, springtime is the perfect opportunity to sew with new substrates and try out new garment patterns. Talk about a great time to freshen up your warm-weather wardrobe!
Often called sample cuts or designer endsdeadstock fabrics is left over from textile mills and/or the fashion industry. In the past few months, we have stocked some incredible, exclusive, designer pieces, and our community of sewists has been super excited to sew with these high-quality fabrics. We’re excited, too—we hope to bring you more of these gorgeous goods throughout the year! One word of caution: deadstock quantities are usually limited and can not be restocked. If you see something you absolutely can’t live without, don’t wait too long to make your purchase!
We brought these three fabrics together from different areas of the shop to create a splendid striped outfit. For a sunny spring day, we’d love a pair of striped chambray Rose Shorts paired with a Roscoe Blouse in floaty rayon challis. Spring weather can be unpredictable, so it’s smart to bring an extra layer—our pick is a lightweight, lined Hovea Jacket in our variegate striped cotton.
Shirting is a great fabric choice for shirts and so much more! We’re looking forward to bringing these designer deadstock plaids and stripes into new and different silhouettes. For starters, we’d love to see these fabrics as The Assembly Line Shirtdress and the Verano Tank, but the options really are endless! In search of the perfect shirt pattern? We love the Vernon Shirt and its size-inclusive take on the classic button-up.
Knits are essential for great-looking, comfortable spring wear! Rayon/spandex and tencel/spandex jerseys are super soft with a light sheen; they are perfect for tops and dresses like the Agnes Top, Zoey Tank & Dress, and the Max Tee. Whether you choose a solid or a print, these high-quality jerseys will elevate your look from everyday to extraordinary!
In honor of Me Made May, we’re taking every opportunity to showcase the amazing outfits made and worn by the Stonemountain & Daughter team! For today’s installment, Shannon wears an Ilford Jacket made of Ruby Star Canvas in an amazing kitty print. Shannon’s jacket includes special details like a contrasting corduroy collar, an Essex Cotton/Linen lining, and matching Matte Plastic Buttons. Olivia wears a Romey Top in a fun Essex Speckle with a self-drafted skirt in a textured rayon/spandex knit. We love Olivia’s selection of textured neutral fabrics for these two pieces—these wardrobe basics will be perfect for mixing and matching all year long.
